On June 25th, OffOn and Dynatrace held the first Open Source Talks in Vienna. 24 people joined us at Dynatrace’s offices in THE ICON VIENNA for an evening of two talks and a quiz.
Open Source Talks is a space for the Austrian open source community to share their projects and meet other enthusiasts in person. These evenings are purely about open source. No product pitches, just people sharing the open source projects they care about.
The talks
Nico Grienauer and Sinduri Guntupalli opened with a session on Drupal CMS. Simon Schrottner followed with “Flip the Switch: Feature Flags and the Power of Open Standards.” A quiz closed out the evening.
Speakers

Nico Grienauer has been working with Drupal for almost 20 years. He is a Drupal Austria Association Board Member, maintainer of several Drupal modules, organizer of several Drupal events, CodeWeek EU Ambassador, initiator of the Austrian Open Source Award, co-founder of acolono, and creator of Drupical.

Sinduri Guntupalli is a Sr Developer Programs Engineer at Dynatrace. She is a Drupal Austria Board member and a Women in Drupal Award recipient. She has worked with Drupal for more than 5 years and is an OffOn team member.

Simon Schrottner is a CNCF Ambassador and maintainer of OpenFeature and JUnit Pioneer. He helps teams release faster and with more confidence through open standards, feature flagging, and the communities that make both possible. He regularly speaks at KubeCon EU, Devoxx, and ContainerDays. He is also one of OffOn’s Challenge builders, having created Blind by Design.
Bringing communities together
We wanted people from different open source projects to actually meet each other, not just sit through talks. That happened. The OpenFeature and Drupal communities crossed paths for the first time, and the friendly ribbing between them said it all.
The feedback afterward was positive. People liked the presentations and the way the event was organized. Thanks to everyone who came to the first one.
