Bangalore’s home for open source people — builders, writers, thinkers, beginners, in person or online. Sponsored by Dynatrace, run independently, funded by us.
OpenBLR started with a simple belief: everyone has something worth contributing, and most communities are too big to notice that. So this one isn’t.
This is for anyone into open source — whether that means you write code, write docs, run events, think in architecture diagrams, or just showed up wanting to learn. There’s no minimum experience level to belong here. And you don’t need to be in Bangalore, or even leave your desk, to be part of it — plenty of this community lives online. Comment on a thread, share what you’re working on, help someone debug something at 11pm. That counts just as much as showing up in person.
We’re sponsored by Dynatrace, but we run independently and stay vendor-neutral — this isn’t a funnel to anything. That also means our meetups aren’t catered by anyone’s expense account. When we get a conference room or a table at a restaurant, we split the bill the same way we split the work — everyone chips in what they can, same spirit as an open source contribution. Nobody’s carrying the check for the group.
The rule that matters most: nobody gets mocked for asking a “basic” question or having a half-formed idea.
If you’re new — introduce yourself. If you’re experienced — someone here needs exactly what you know. Got questions about how this works? Drop them in the comments — we’ll answer.
